I solemnly swear...

Do you remember the Marauder's Map from Harry Potter? There is… Some sort of…

I solemnly swear...

Fortunately or unfortunately, the world of Harry Potter is not real, and neither is this kind of wizardry and magical paraphernalia. Or is it? No, they don't exist, but there are technological "proximities" in the form of magic wands that replace remote controls for TVs or Harry Potter: Wizards Unite-style games that use augmented reality (AR) systems. And the latter is also used by a very special Ravbar card.

First, a refresher for those of you who don't know what Ravbar's card is. It's a map that Harry's father made and Harry got it from the Weasley twins. If the map was "activated", it showed the map of Hogwarts and its surroundings and the movements of all professors and students.

Well, something similar has now been created by Lucas Rizzotto, an artist who works with virtual (VR) and augmented (AR) reality. It is a system that "projects" the surroundings onto an empty board with the help of augmented reality, and on it shows their movement from the data obtained via the GPS signal of the participants' phones.

Realizing the idea was quite a challenge, as he first had to come up with a way to make the map magically appear on the board, and then how to follow people and animate their movements. And according to what we see in the video, he just succeeded.

At the moment, the idea is just a kind of art project, an installation, if you will, but according to the video, the time is not far when something similar will come to life as something fun or useful for everyday use. The technology is here, it's all just a matter of implementation…
