Feel virtual reality
A glove that can be used to feel objects in virtual reality

The company Meta (formerly known as Facebook), more precisely its Reality Labs, has been working for seven years on the project gloves, which would allow not only to control but also to literally touch in virtual (VR) and augmented (AR) reality.
Steering with the help of a glove is not something terribly new. Meta Quest 2 glasses (formerly Oculus Quest 2) already enable this via the camera in or on the computer. It is aimed at the player and records his gestures, and the accompanying program converts them into commands. The new glove is different in that gestures are monitored by a dedicated camera installed in the ring on the wrist so that it "sees" the movement of the palm and fingers. But since this is not enough, additional motion trackers were built into the fingers of the gloves in case the palm is closed.
Tracking movement in the style of the movie Minority report is of course fun, but even more fun is that you can also feel with the gloves. And literally. The glove has a whole bunch of small inflatable pockets on the inside of the fingers, which are inflated by the control system depending on the shape of the object being touched in the virtual world.
Of course, the project is still in the prototype stage, so it won't be in stores for a long time, but it shows what the Metaverse, which has been talked about so much in recent weeks, means.
