The prince returns to America

[Original contribution, 12/19/2020] In 1988, one of the cutest movies in which Eddie Murphy appeared came to the big screen. Coming to America is about an African prince who wants to find a wife who will love him for who he is and not for his status. Therefore, under the guise of a poor immigrant, he moves to Queens, New York and takes a job in a restaurant as a cleaner, and after a lot of fun complications, of course, he gets a girl who becomes his wife and helps him rule Zamunda...

The film was a great success, and many wondered why its creators didn't decide to "pause" this cow a little more. And they really haven't for 30 years. Maybe nobody managed to write an interesting enough script at that time, maybe the main actors weren't up for it... anyway, it's obviously different now, because 5. In March 2021, a sequel titled Coming 2 America was released. The film will feature quite a few actors from the original cast (Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, John Amos, Paul Bates, Shari Headley, Vanessa Bell Calloway…), and they will also be joined by some new famous names (Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones…).

And what will the second part be about?  Akeem, who is now, 30 years later, no longer a prince but a king, learns that he has a son in America. And he goes looking for it... So far, there is not much promotional material available, but some photos have been circulating on the Internet. The comment that the heroes look like they are in the pictures of a graduation anniversary is definitely on point... How can it be, since these people are more than 30 years older... But I guess there will be no shortage of fun...
