The best gangster movies

It's cold outside, the virus is spreading, it's not long, but the holidays are coming... All this calls for watching TV. But what to watch? Since "classic" channels, despite the fact that we have a small number of them, often do not offer anything smart at all, we often opt for some streaming content or "shoot" a movie that we have heard is good.

And there are quite a few good gangster movies. We all know there's The Godfather, and The Untouchables, and The Good Guys, and... But we've already seen many of those. Are there any we haven't seen yet that are really good? Of course. On the portal Mentalfloss they compiled a list of twenty gangster movies that you must not miss. They were arranged chronologically, that is, by the year of release, starting with the cult Public Enemy from 1931 with the legendary James Cagney, ending with the French Prophet from 2009, and in between there is a whole series of gangster classics: Of course, some good ones were also overlooked (Gangs of New York?), but the list is nevertheless interesting:

• PUBLIC ENEMY (1931)

• WHITE HEAT (1949)

• BONNIE AND CLYDE (1967)

• GET CARTER (1971)

• THE GODFATHER (1972)

• BATTLES WITHOUT HONOR AND HUMANITY - JINGI NAKI TATAKAI (1973)

• THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE (1973)

• THE GODFATHER PART II (1974)

• THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY (1980)

• ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA (1984)

• THE UNTOUCHABLES (1987)

• GOODFELLAS (1990)

• KING OF NEW YORK (1990)

• MILLER'S CROSSING (1990)

• CARLITO'S WAY (1993)

• SEXY BEAST (2000)

• CITY OF GOD - CIDADE DE DEUS (2002)

• INFERNAL AFFAIRS - MOU GAAN DOU (2002)

• EASTERN PROMISES (2007)

• A PROPHET - UN PROPHÈTE (2009)

For non-English movies, we have left the titles in the English translation, because you will probably find them easier that way, and just in case, the titles in the original are also written next to them.
